This week on The Movie Gourmet a new review of the year’s best movie so far – the brilliant documentary You Can See Everything. I also posted a review of the insightful documentary Heathens, which explores the trauma suffered by people who leave their church communities.
REMEMBRANCE

Patrick Stewart had a significant career with the Royal Shakespeare Company before immotalizing himself in the role of Picard in the Star Trek franchise. When PBS broadcasted the British I, Claudius series in 1977, American viewers were introduced to Stewart’s booming baritone and commanding presence. He didn’t need that voice for his indelible performance as the Soviet spymaster Karla in the 1988 Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, a role with no spoken lines. Stewart amassed an amazing 589 IMDb credits, including dozens of Star Trek and X-Men performances and a few Shakespeare roles after the age of 60. I relished his very funny performance in the 2013 Israeli caper comedy Hunting Elephants (available on Amazon, included with Prime.)
